2008-2009 Volunteer Orientation Schedule
Volunteer orientation is an overview of agency programs and volunteer opportunities. It provides information about tutoring adult learners. Orientation is required prior to training.
The free orientation lasts one and a half hours and is offered at a variety of locations to meet the needs of potential volunteers.

2008 Tutor Training Workshop Schedule
18 hours of total training is required to become a tutor. You will be trained to
tutor both English as a Second Language (ESL) and Basic Reading (BR) students.
All training sessions during a given month are at the same location.
Training DOES NOT have to be completed during the month you attend the orientation. Tutor trainees may choose to attend make up sessions during a subsequent month.
Please note: Tutors are asked to contribute a $25 fee for the workshop series, which covers the cost of a textbook and handouts. Please mail your check made out to The Literacy Connection to register or you may pay in person on the first workshop date you attend. Thank you.
