Do you want to improve your reading, writing, or basic math skills? The Literacy Connection is here to help you reach your English literacy goals.
We help adults reach their literacy goals through one-on-one and small group tutoring and instruction. We are based in Elgin, IL and serve the northwest Chicago suburbs. We offer in-person and remote options.

Our Basic Reading Learners are adults who are proficient in English, but may have difficulty identifying letters or words, reading a menu or sign, filling out a job application, or doing simple math. Learn more about what tutoring looks like:

Sessions are led by trained volunteer tutors.

Tutoring sessions help with basic reading, writing, spelling, and simple math skills (if desired).

Becoming a learner is completely free aside from a one-time $10 fee to cover the assessment.

Tutoring takes place at a public location (like a library) or remotely via Zoom at a day and time convenient for both tutor and learner.

Sessions are typically one hour per week.
