Our programs help adults reach their English literacy goals through one-on-one and small group tutoring and instruction. We are based in Elgin, IL and serve the northwest Chicago suburbs.

Adult Volunteer Literacy Program
In this program, volunteer literacy tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with adult learners, focusing on helping learners reach their individual goals. Tutors and learners meet at a public location (like a library) on a day and time convenient for both tutor and learner. The program is free aside from a one-time $10 assessment fee. Contact our office for more information.
FeelFluent Chasers Program
This program features classes led by an English language instructor and supported by volunteer tutors. These classes support beginning English Language Learners who are on our waitlist for a one-on-one or small group tutor and would like to begin their learning process.

Family Literacy Program
Our Family Literacy Program serves parents and their children during the school year. The program benefits the entire family by improving the English Language and parenting skills of the adults as they gain a better understanding of the expectations of the school system and the community, and learn how to be more engaged in their children’s education and development.
Children are enrolled in Boys & Girls Club and receive homework help, activities, a free meal, and more.

Conversation Groups
In Partnership with Gail Borden Public Library. Registration required.
English Conversation Group
When: Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Where: Gail Borden Public Library (Main Branch) and on Zoom
Intermediate level participants practice English conversations, gain confidence, and improve their pronunciation. This group is led by a Literacy Connection tutor.
Note: Zoom link will be sent to participants after registration.
Citizenship Conversation Group
When: First and Third Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM
Where: In person at Gail Borden Library (Main Branch)
Using USCIS material that includes civics questions, the application form and other requirements for the citizenship interview, students build confidence learning English. The group is led by a Literacy Connection tutor.
